About Us

Pug and Cat

Our veterinary hospital strives to provide the highest standard of care for your pet. Our facility has the equipment to provide digital x-rays, dental care, general surgery, spay/neuter surgery and diagnostics for dog and cat health problems.  We have a twice daily courier service to send samples to the IDEXX laboratory for blood  and urine testing, and  to the VDX laboratory for cytologies and biopsies. We can obtain specialist consultations on x-rays on an emergency or routine basis.

If your pet's problem is outside the scope of our practice, or even if you just feel that you want a second opinion on a complicated or serious condition, we offer referral to several specialty practices in our area or to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital at UC Davis.  Through our referral colleagues we can provide you with access to specialists in cardiology, dermatology, dentistry, internal medicine, surgery, neurology, oncology and physical therapy/rehabilitation.   Many of our clients also consult with alternative practitioners and we are willing to share our patients with those doctors.

At Harbor Veterinary Hospital we are committed to providing quality care at every stage of your pet's life.  We provide preventative care tailored to your pet's lifestyle, and recommend a comprehensive vaccine schedule that maximizes protection while minimizing the vaccines that your pet will receive each year and throughout life.

Harbor Veterinary Hospital is a well-established, full-service, small animal veterinary hospital providing comprehensive medical, surgical and dental care.  We work closely with the pet owner to develop a plan for the best treatment available, while remaining sensitive to the owner's budget.   Our Puppy and Kitten protection packages include fecal analysis, deworming, all recommended vaccinations and  a comprehensive physical exam to start your new companion off right in life.  We  offer free first exam for pets adopted from a shelter or recognized 501c3 rescue organization.

Microchipping is recommended to help your pet get home if he or she is lost without collar ID.  If your pet does not already have a microchip, our doctors can place one in a simple inexpensive 3 minute procedure at your first office visit.

We are able to diagnose and treat your dog or cat's illness or injury using digital and digital dental xrays, on line consulting,  in-house laboratory testing and the use of external laboratories. We also work closely with specialists when more complicated diagnostic procedures and treatment plans are required. Our hospital includes a well-stocked pharmacy, in-hospital surgery suite, in-house x-ray capabilities, a closely supervised hospitalization area, and indoor animal housing with outdoor walking areas for dogs.

For complicated cases and  for emergencies when we are closed, we offer referral to several area hospitals that employ board certified specialists in cardiology, dentistry, ophthalmology, dermatology, internal medicine, surgery and oncology.  Our doctors will help you decide what level of care you wish to provide your pet, and we will help you negotiate the complicated and potentially expensive decisions you may need to make.
